I haven’t been hiking this week, and my average step count is horribly low. I have hurt my back.

Not hiking. I literally stood up, out of a chair, and something went TWANG in my back. The whole of the bottom of my back just stopped working.

Indeed.


Dr Google tells me that the trick to recovery from a bad back is gentle exercise. But of course it’s the holidays, and instead of my usual gentle stroll to and fro school, I am driving the small humans to holiday camp. They then spend all day running around and are reluctant to go on further Lovely Walks once picked up.

However - ice cream.

“Children, would you like a post-camp ice cream?”
“Before dinner?”
“Yes.”

And even the tiredest of children have to admit that mummy cannot drive home holding an ice cream, so we managed to build in a little 6000 step stroll around Musselburgh.

I’m not even going to give this a sandwich rating. It was tiny, it was relaxed, it was completely flat, and there was seaside and ducks.

A proper entry will turn up when I can sit straight and work properly.
